Date and Palm Cluster Brief - Who Are We?

The Date and Palm Cluster is one of five clusters that receive support from the Private Sector Development Cluster Project (PSDCP) Implemented by the Ministry of National Economy in partnership with the Federation of Palestinian Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (FPCCIA). This project is funded by the French Development Agency.

Date and Palm cluster in Gaza aims to develop and strengthen the competitiveness of date and palm products, such that it can increase the domestic market share for these local products. The cluster comprises of a wide variety of local MSMEs in Gaza Strip. The cluster core group comprises of 12 MSMEs; including primary producers (farmers), secondary producers (dry date importers and date paste manufacturers), food processors, fodder and handicrafts and the market (Wholesalers and short sellers).
 
The cluster is supported by different Business Support Organizations (BSOs) including FAO, MoA, MoNE, WFP, Gaza Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Moreover, two local NGOs leading the development of the sector namely Al-Ahliya Association for Development Dates and Palm and Palestinian Association for Development Palm Sector are supporting the core group members.
